Alsinu, translates literally to Twin City as it stands astride the Great Canal, where the Northern and Southern continents meet and the Eastern and Western Oceans embrace. Known as the “Crossroads of Brakenwyke,” it is the heart of trade, invention, and intrigue across the realm.
Ruled from ivory towers by the first half-elven, half-human King Valenford I, Alsinu is a city of contradictions: elven spires and human stone, skyborne dragons and chained labourers. Its wealth flows from canal tolls, trade tariffs, and the grim institution of debt-bond servitude, where the poor sell their children into Crown custody “for mercy and education,” though few ever see release.
The city itself is made up of four distinct parts, separated by three massive ringed walls and is mirrored on the northern and southern continents, thus its name, Twin City.
The Upper Ring
A decadent ring for the upper class, nobles, and the rulers themselves. Marble spires rise high above the clouds in this section of the city where lower classes are banned.
The Inner Ring
The life force of invention and artificer’s pride, this inner ring is home to all manner of wealthy labourers and their descendants.
The Outer Ring
Those who successfully break their Liberation Contract tend to live here. The inhabitants here fuel the machine that is Alsinu by doing jobs the other rings would never do. From working the mines to service jobs and the like. This part of the city is host to the most famous inns and taverns in the city, but also the seediest back alleys and dive bars where crime runs rampant.
Beyond The Wall
Beyond the wall is a ramshackle city of desperate slaves, crime, dockworkers, and those so impoverished they can’t afford to live inside. This is a place those with the means never go, and those without never escape.
